Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that all public and private schools will start their summer holidays early due to the intense heatwave. The holidays will start on May 25 and last until May 31.
Holidays Announced for Punjab Schools
Parents have shown strong support for this decision, with 96% agreeing that it is important to protect children from extreme heat.
Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized the need to prioritize the health and safety of students during this heatwave. He pointed out that nearly all parents backed the idea of beginning the summer break earlier than planned.
“Our students’ wellbeing is our top priority. Given the extreme temperatures, it is essential to take steps to ensure their safety,” he said.
Schools that are in the middle of exams have been given conditional permission to stay open solely for exams, provided they implement necessary safety measures.

Previously, the Punjab government had set summer vacations from June 1 to August 14, but the current heatwave has prompted an earlier start.
